Lateral Visions has extensive experience with interactive 3D design. Since our founding in 2003, we have produced numerous interactive 3D projects covering a wide range of industries and application areas. All projects have been built using our unique, proprietary technologies.

Areas of expertise:

3D Modelling

Lateral Visions has extensive experience in creating and texturing 3D models for use with interactive 3D projects. We have modelled everything from towns to classrooms to cars to jars of olives for clients, and work within the constraints of interactive performance, compatibility and budget to produce the highest quality results.

We make use of the latest techniques, such as radiosity, bump mapping and advanced reflections. We typically work from plans or blueprints if available, and where possible we use real photographs to ensure the result is as close to reality as possible.

This image shows a cross-section of the Linnean Society's library reading room in development from architectural plans. This project was developed to be rendered in real-time (and therefore be interactive) using the Lateral Visions 3D Web platform. Developing 3D models for interactive software requires an efficient use of geometry and texture memory to ensure you achieve the best possible quality that most computers can view, not just the relatively modern ones.

This image shows the development of the lighting for the library reading room. The lighting is calculated using a global illumination solution that calculates the dispersion of light throughout the scene.

This image shows the library reading room as viewed through a web browser using Lateral Visions 3D Web. In this image you can see how the photo texture detail is combined with the lighting to create a more realistic representation of the space. Beyond this we can add various material effects to further increase realism, such as adding reflections to glass and glossy materials.
